Forever 21 on Oxford St.

Rebecca Bloomwood(Confessions of a shopaholic) : You know that thing when you see someone cute and he smiles and your heart kind of goes like warm butter sliding down hot toast? Well that's what it's like when I see a store. Only it's better...
Well, this is how hundreds of fashionistas felt as they queued outside the highly anticipated opening of the Forever 21 store on Oxford Street in London yesterday morning.

For those of you who don't quite get the hype - Forever 21 is sort of like an upmarket Primark.
I have been to the store in Times Square, NY and shopping in Forever 21 is a whole new shopping experience. Think of the best visual merchandising on the high street... now x 10 and that is how amazing inside Forever 21 OXFORD ST. will look.
lucky for me, I will be in London from the end of next week for five or six days, and what does that means? A major shopping trip down Oxford St.  Need you guess where my first stop will be ?

Kate Moss on Vogue UK August 2011

Isn't Vogues August 2011 (UK) front cover beautiful?  The dress can be seen below - it is part of Miu Miu's collection for fall 2011. It is worn by Kate Moss for Vogue's front cover, possibly in aid of proving she hasn't yet been forgotten as a model? Maybe - we don't really know why or how she came about being the star of the issue, but we do know that she looks fabulous in this nostalgic dress with subtle vintage makeup.

To get this 'nostalgia' makeup look you may want to invest in:

<3 Some gold and bronze eyeshadow - I recommend MAC - just because I love it.

A smooth and sharp eyebrow pencil:

and as for the lips: see this link on how to get them glittering:

Time to go blonde?

So - one of my favourite celebs of the moment (Cheryl Cole) went blonde last week for her 28th birthday - and boy does she look good! Yes, the colours nice, but I personally really like the cut. Its new, stylish and hasn't been seen on anyone else in the public eye. Its sort of a modified version of Victoria Beckhams 'pob'... I love it.

In fact I do not just love it - I actually adore it. I know this is going to sound cringe worthy but its the truth - so I'm going to tell you anyway... I've been bringing this haircut up in conversation with everyone. I think my boyfriend is actually getting tired of my rambling. But the more I think and talk about it the more I wonder whether I want to go blonde. Now they do say that blonde's have more fun - but I'm honouring myself at the moment in the fact that I haven't dyed my hair in about four or five months. My hair is finally getting back into good condition - so I don't know if I should.  If i don't, then I will definately be mimicking this cut as soon as my hair grows long enough.

Tie shirts - My new craze for July / August.

Now before you say anything - I know these tie - shirts have been around for a while. If I'm honest - its just taken me a while to get into them. I found this really nice one on desireclothing.com - it would go amazing with a pair of chinos on a warmish day - I mean lets face it, I live in Great Britain so at least with this outfit I will be fashionable - without looking like I'm meant to be in Ibiza!

BERLIN FASHION WEEK UPDATE: TREND REPORT

Basler S/S 2012 : Berlin Fashion Week

Strenesse S/S 2012 : Berlin Fashion Week.

Strenesse S/S 2012 : Berlin Fashion Week.
Schumacher S/S 2012 : Berlin Fashion Week.
Schumacher S/S 2012 : Berlin Fashion Week.

Berlin Fashion began on July the 5th... three days ago. In those three days we have been graced with the delights of German fashion at its best for Spring / Summer 2012. Overall there have been a lot of maxi dresses, lots of sheer fabric, stripes, florals and neon's. The main trends that have come across so far include sports lux - a trend that tried dearly to get into the lime light a couple of years ago... but never quite succeeded.

The great thing about most of this years collections is that the colour pallate is pretty basic, and will be hard for anyone to get wrong. It is basically nude - different tones of nude (and we should all know that if you manage to get the wright one for your complexion it can be the most flattering colour ever ) with splashes of neon's and bright colours - think neon pink, flourecent green + yellow, coral, bright yellow, red etc.

Most pieces consisted of lighter fabrics & jerseys which means you will be able to stay fashionable without that feeling that your melting all over.

HAUTE COUTURE (PARIS): DIOR FALL 2011

Earlier this week Dior put his first - not including John Galliano, haute couture runway show on in Paris. Many scrutinizers of Galliano had been awating this event to see whether or not the designer would be showcased in Dior's collection... and also to see if Dior would be any good without him.

The whole show had a whimsical, theatrical theme that suggested a great deal of inspiration from the clowns (possibly the circus). As with any other couture collection by any designer - you will either love it or hate it... quite like marmite. I  loved it

Okay, so you may not get me walking down the street in any of these eye catching gowns any time soon, but I think I will definitely be taking ideas portrayed in the collection into my wardobe - clashing colours, patterns & textures. I think this is definitely going to be co ordinated into the highstreet shops & popular culture later on this winter ... we have already seen Nicola Roberts work clashing patterns in her recently new debut single - beat of my drum.

In my opinion, the house of Dior definitely proved that Galliano was only half (if that) of the brains of their past lusted after couture collections - Galliano's past assistants certainly had a large role to play in the duo's success. At the end of the show, Bill Gaytmen (who was Gallianos assistant for 15 years, and was in charge of overseeing this collection) stepped out with Susanna Venegas (his first assistant) for recognition and a well deserved applause.

NEW COLLECTION: JIL SANDER - NAVY FALL 2011

JIL SANDER has recently given us 'frugalista's' something to look forward too. By this I mean that for all us fashion obsessed people  - who unfortunately may not have the bank balances that mean we are able to afford  a high end designer wardrobe, Jil Sander has created a collection called Navy that will keep our bank balances happy, whilst fulfilling our lust for the latest designer item.

In the first sneak peak of her fall 2011 (A/W 2011) collection we have been graced with an eclectic vibe of feminine, laid - back masculinity.  The look is very effortless whilst still being tailored and comes across very boyish apart from the selection of eased and comfortable fabrics. Basically think wool coats with chino's, silk shirts, brogues and a bit of fancy jersey here & there.

We are yet to see the full collection. But a quiet word from me to you... expect to see a lot of muted colours to go with the overall relaxed chic look with hints of bold colours like Red, Green & burnt orange and possibly fuschia fitted in to the tailored designs here and there.
